Description
In large part, 2016 has not been the best year for me. But it has also been one of the most positive times in my life.
For most of the year to date, I've been dealing with a great many health issues. I won't go into details, but some have been rather serious and have radically changed my life in many ways. The upside to it all of this is, while some things will stay with me for the rest of my life, what will also stay with me is a new, healthier lifestyle and a more positive outlook on my life and the people who are in it.
I came up with the chorus to this tune during one of my several stretches where all I could do was lay in bed and wait for things to get better, which they did. It took me several months to get back to the point where I was able to finish the song and get it recorded. Getting to the point where I could play guitar, sing and get everything recorded was a goal to keep reaching for. And it helped.
Now, for the first time in months, things are going well. My health is good and I feel good. Better than I have in as long as I can remember. And like the song says, I know at some point I'll hit more troubled waters, but they'll wash over me and become calm once again.
Life's good. Enjoy it and, I hope, this tune.

Lyrics
Life’s A River
©2016 Joseph Gurner
I wake up every morning G
Thankful that I’m here C
Hoping for that peace of mind Am
That seems so far away G
Been through so many changes G
Each and every day C
A whole new world is facing me Am
Bringing on the fear G
I took for granted F
The things that make life real Am
Now I hold on tight F
And step into the sun G
Life’s a river D
Flowing strong C/G
Moving over me D
On and on C/G
Troubled waters come to me D/C
Time and time again F/D
But they move on by D
And the river’s calm again C/G
I lay down every evening G
Weary to the bone C
Looking for that peace of mind Am
Another day away G
A brand new day has come and gone G
Time to get my rest C
Face the darkness once again Am
Stepping though my fear G
Moving further every day F
Leave the dark behind Am
Now it’s time to say goodbye F
To what I leave behind G
Life’s a river D
Flowing strong C/G
Moving over me D
On and on C/G
Troubled waters come to me D/C
Time and time again F/D
But they move on by D
And the river’s calm again C/G

FEEL
2015 was a tough one for me and with the help of my family and a decent doctor, things have turned out for the better. Good to see that things are going better for you. Love the harmonies, progression and the subject matter. Thanks for sharing.
