Description
Imaginary games of the young. Seeking out dragons and ogres in the forest, climbing trees to look out across wide valleys toward distant hilltop castles and monasteries. The joy of pure play.
This is the recently completed third movement of a work I have underway entitled “Life”. I have also submitted it into the 8dio annual composer's contest through my SoundCloud page, but wanted to share it with people in this community as well.
In this piece I have kept the harmonies and structure very simple reflecting a young person’s perspective of the epic tales. The mix of several old and new styles is intentional. I hope you find they work together without being out of context.
This is also the first chance I’ve had to use 8dio’s Lacrimosa choir, for which I had this piece in mind (and others to follow). It also uses Claire Flute from the same company, as well as the Tenor and Mars and Venus Choirs from SoundIron, and East West's Symphonic Orchestra and StormDrum2.
Who knows what’s around the next corner?

A terrific amalgam of middle age chants and modern rhythms.
Turns epic and heroic at 2:35. Very staccato, slashing and powerful. I enjoyed every second of this and if I were judging it would leap to the top of my list.
Great Piece!
Cheers,
Charlie
