6th St. Masquerade - Take 2 (Jack sitting in with Tom)

 Genre: Acoustic Rock

Tom Bronco has been around Macjams forever. I first came across his music when I joined MacIdol in 2004. I joined MacJams shortly thereafter and found him here! Any way, I like Tom's latest song a lot and felt inspired to add my harmonica to it. I sent it to Tom. He liked it! And, suggested I upload the tune. Besides my harmonica I did do some EQ stuff and a bit of noise removal. Sooo… Thanks Tom for letting me sit in with you on a fine, fine song… Hope you all like our little combo...

G F repeat
Everyone says it's been a hot, muggy day

Everyone says it will be a hot muggy night

Sweat dripping down like tears from above

No relief is in sight, tonight . . . oh tonight

6th street masquerade, everyone is running round
Em C D
pretending that they don't know who they are
repeat . . . tonight, . . . oh, tonight!

Look over yonder and what do you see?
People going crazy just like you and me
Mouths never stop but have nothing to say
Lot's of fun as long as you can pay . . . tonight

A witch, a goblin, a King and some Queens
Old Mother Nature acting obscene
Fairies and sprites feeling so right
Flying so high, . . . tonight

Music is sounding everywhere
People dancing without a care
A blue note, a jazz one, a country one too
Austin music for me and you . . .. tonight

Muggy and Hot
Good makeover Jack! Harmonica fits right in like we were busking on the street. I wonder how much we made when the bars let out?

Hey Peter,
Thanks for the encouragement! I 'm about to hop in my car and head south so that Tom and I can start busking. No Ishtar jokes!! :)

Great when you hear a song and just know you can add something to it. I've had several songs that were "OK" and Steve would just say let me add some mandolin or something such and it would be the icing on the cake. Great song made even better. Cheers Mark

Dog Days
Had me on picture of course. This is a song about Austin Texas? Maybe in the middle eighties? Seems like a million years ago, but it just yesterday I guess.

Harmonica adds...
... very nice. The tune is pretty repetitious, though. Wish the melody could GO somewhere. But maybe that's not the point of the presentation. ...fade at end way too abrupt.

So the harmonica rocks
As the songwriter I suppose I should apologize for the repetitious song but actually I thought for it's genre it was a pretty nice song. The melody can only go where my voice can take it and I have never had a very big range and at nearly 70 years old it is getting worse. I looked at your music and can see where you might not like folk or rock n roll. I suppose if you don't like something it is okay just not to comment and concentrate on a style of music you do like. Life is too short not to enjoy it.

As with Dylan...
Thanks for the compliment on the harp. But your criticism of the repetitious tune and wishing the "melody could GO somewhere" can easily be laid at the foot of many, if not most, of Bob Dylan's compositions! It's folk. It's poetry/prose with music on the side. It tells a snapshot-story. Repitition drives the story home. The music/melody is meant to be only the supporting actor which accompanies the lyric sung. But you know that! 😎
