Rage (2017)

Get Flash to see this player.

This is a remake of a song I wrote back in the early 90s for a band I was in called Rosebud. We were a punkish, metalish, grungeish power trio and we gigged around our college town for a couple of years. Even went into a studio and made a demo and this was one of the songs we recorded.

Sadly, all I have left is an aging, cheap cassette with three of the demo songs on it. Many, many years ago, I transferred the original version of this into GarageBand and tried to make it sound better (Good lord, that was 12 years ago!) You can go listen to it here if you want to do the compare contrast thing. My guitar playing isn't close to that of our guitarist, and Drummer is no substitute for an actual drummer. To make up for my lack of guitar skills, I use a lot of distortion, reverb and an ebow.

Hope you enjoy and... PLAY IT LOUD!

If I could see a sky so blue
If I could feel the morning dew
If I could hear the ocean’s roar
I would never ask for more

If I could breath the air again
If I could feel the gentle wind
If I could see an eagle soar
I would never ask for more

Won't we ever learn
Won't we ever learn

If I could see the world again
If I could cleanse my father's sins
If I could heal the sick and poor
I would never ask for more

Won't we ever learn
Won't we ever learn

Rage On!
Is this the song that brought Macjams down? It must be all of that reverb and feedback : )

A song like this is going to come out differently every time you try to pin it down in a recording. It is a beast. It probably can't be tamed. Or shouldn't be tamed, because if it was it would lose its ferocity and purpose. Rage on!

Youth, revisited
I've listened to this and the original.

So that's "Drummer"? Not bad, actually, but your actual drummer was more exciting. I dig the dense guitars, though again, your original guitarist was something to behold. It's a different approach.

Good to hear that the track actually had vocals. They were somewhat submerged in the original.

...and it needs more guitars...

I think the drumming came out nicely. I could actually like a little more vocal in the mix...

I like the lyrics quite a bit...

I think it would also be cool if you put some more varied reverb on it so as to move some of the elements front-and-back in the mix, making for a little sense of space...

Neat one...
