Metal On The Outside

Description
Probably the second track for the Boy With A Mechanical Arm album/project.

I was lucky enough to share this idea with Particle Dots when I started writing it. I took this to great heights with his glitchy brilliance. One of several tracks that he and SmokeyVW and Silvia and Bill Flynn were part of.

I'm hoping this is close to perfection, as it's one of my favorites from the project.

I'm still looking for critical feedback.

Thanks -

Bob

Lyrics
(Don't you judge a book by it's cover)

He was born
With metal on the outside
No one looked
To see what's on the inside (x2)

(big fat scaredy cat)

So afraid
Of the metal on the outside
So afraid
To see what's on the inside (x2)

Great to hear some new stuff from the 5 armed maestro.
Mix wise some people might complain about the wall shaking bass.
Me? I love it.
I like the harmonies on the vocals too.
Great track and hello again

Metallic robots dancing
Be careful about getting too close to perfection - it might take away one of your arms : )

It sounds metallic. I see robots dancing.

I'm sure there's more - much more - to this story.

(What if he finds plastic on the inside?)

my only...
criticism of an otherwise awesome tune is that the kick drum at the beginning is a bit weak. Could do with a bit of a boost, just at that point to achieve tonal parity with the rest of the track. Lyrically great, but the last verse "to see what's on the inside" seemed to have less impact than the rest of the lyrics. It kind of trailed in and lost some of the pathos.

Inside Outside
Well you get Roger Waters' profs on this one, the outro is the best part of the song, my first suggestion would be to put the end first. Or augment the lyric with parts of the outro...
Second suggestion, compress the lead vocal. Push it forward in the mix. I would suggest using a Water's song like What God Wants as a reference. If it popped a bit more the effect of the lyric would be enhanced.
Third suggestion, needs some more percussion. The tonal percussion on the previous tune provided atmosphere, but eventually atmosphere must give way to something concrete, a tougher drum section with maybe some exotic hand instruments might work... like New Orleans second line.

You've returned!
Welcome back Bob!

Cool concept! Somewhere betwixt "Tommy" and "Edward Scissorhands" methinks.

Beautifully recorded!

Be well friend!

Cool track. Love the bass, too. The "whirring" synths are perfect. Thanks.
