Description
It's been a while since I posted, I've been very busy not only composing but also getting ready to train as an RAF Pilot.

I'd like to share a couple of the tracks that I've been writing for an indie film I'm working on at the moment that should hopefully (if all goes well!) be released next spring - it's a drama about Laika, and follows the growing bond and emotional attachment between scientist, child and dog as they prepare to send her on a one-way mission into space.

This track accompanies the scene where Laika is spending her final night on Earth playing in the garden with the scientists' children.

"Laika was quiet and charming...I wanted to do something nice for her: She had so little time left to live."

I see...
a teary eyed scientist, the dog romping and playing IN SLOW MOTION, a cocked furry face with up turned eyes. Can't imagine playing in the garden unless it's slow-mo.

Scoring
Having a good sample library if at most half the story. You definitely know what to do with it. Very sweet piece.

Wonderful.
If you haven't seen it, you should check out a film called 'My Life as a Dog'. Swedish movie directed by Lasse Hallström. Fabulous film, set around the time Laika was sent into space. In fact, it's what the film is about really. Dead good!

Great mix, wonderfully atmospheric music. A really nice subject to film and soundtrack. Good luck.

A life changer
Yup, saw that film in 1986 with a fellow student. I shyly grabbed her hand during the movie and now she is sitting here beside me after 30 years of marriage :-)

Nice to see you back again!
The story of Laika I found terribly sad.

Sending a the dog to certain death seemed to me inhuman, but what do I know? I still eat meat..

You've really caught the feeling of loss and pathos.

You might want to have a listen to this as well as another take on Laika. It was used as a Spanish exercise in a course I took a while back.

I still get bounced emails from your address (not that the London Macjammers have met again for well over a year now anyway)

Send me a PM through MJ (I don't do FB anymore) with your working address)

Cheers

Dick
