Recomposing David Bowie

recompose
re·com·pose (rē′kəm-pōz′)
re·com·posed, re·com·pos·ing, re·com·pos·es
To compose again; reorganize or rearrange.
To restore to composure; calm.
To compose again; to form anew; to put together again or repeatedly.

Filmbar and Amplified at Phoenix Art Museum present an installation of experimental audio-video loops to mark the occasion of David Bowie’s birthday on Jan 8th

The audio is constructed from time stretched reverb tails which retain a spectral image of Bowie’s voice, but the voice is no longer there.

Through a series of speakers, the room fills with contemplative sound as the audio loops overlap and collide with each other in interesting ways

The video loop presents a series of time-lapse clay visages of David Bowie regenerating from a dissolved state.

Together, the audio and video provide a fluid environment for reflection.

As with many things Bowie did throughout his life, there is a sense of discovery and reinvention as the sound and vision unfolds.

Recomposing David Bowie [see more] is one component of an ongoing and continually evolving, multi piece collaborative art project by Sylvia Frost and Bryn Corbett

Interesting concept
Even without the visuals, it creates an engaging atmosphere. Excellent!

ominous
but oddly soothing. A deceptively simple piece which builds wonderfully.

Takes me away
Well that was a headspace that was impossible to escape from! Nicely done, Really fine job on the sonic evolution and organic qualities. Reminds me of Reinholt56's work in a more spare setting. Or maybe Eno. Either way, a good listen!
Check out my latest song called Western Stranger

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
