Another flute
What kind of flute is it? It sounds wooden. Nice contrast with the synth bass and pad. The live playing brings the whole piece to a new level of intimacy. Well played with good breath control. Downloaded with thanks Vic.

Wood
See the picture in this: https://macjams.com/song/80544 It's the bigger brother of that flute.
My sister made another trip to north India, so I asked her to bring me another flute.

Flute
The flute is a traverso from India. I don't think this type has any name in particular. There is some pretty woodwork on it. The background is the new Repro-5 synth.

Sounds really nice with the gentle chord changes in the background. Do you write out your pieces or memorize them? Improv?

Improv
This is completely improvised. Chords were added later.

I took this flute with me to the pool, and recorded a couple of improvisations on my cell phone. It must have been a quiet day because there are no pool noises in this track.

Really nice, Vic
For a moment I thought I heard a very soft slow banjo in the background. I know that's weird - but my first listen was quieter than the second. Nice use of the synth backing. Wait - I'm not crazy - it's really there at 1:37. I guess it's the synth. Nice touch.

Synth
There is actually 4 or 5 synth tracks: a main pad, bass, and then some incidental noises. You're free to call it a banjo.

Lovely stuff, Vic. I could feel my blood pressure dropping away as it progressed. I woke up on the keyboard... :-) Take care.

Time and place
I went to that atmospheric place to see the big pool when visiting Austin last year. A great choice of venue to try out a new instrument. We sat there for quite a while just watching the swimmers going to and fro, but I remember spending a lot of time taking pictures of one of those clucking boat-tailed grackles sitting on a fence above the pool.

I can't decide whether I like the synth-enhancement or not. That is, each time I have listened to it, my mind tries to subtract those sounds to hear just the flute and maybe something in the environment. Perhaps that is because I know where it was recorded - that I want to hear a splash, or some laughter, or the sound of a bird - something that grounds it in the real rather than ethereal. But perhaps I am being too pedestrian and I need to put on some wings and soar with the music : )

Enhancement
I was trying to keep it fairly minimal, but yes, I could indeed have done without. Splashing and such: it is January. There are very few people at the pool. I think I was sitting at the shallow end, which is drained in the winter, so it wouldn't pick up the gentle sound of splashing. See a comment above for two tracks that definitely have environmental noise.
