Description
Finally downloaded a copy of Logic X. Thought I should get acquainted with the updates. There is a Leslie Rotary Cabinet plugin that caught my attention and seemed like a match for the guitars. A lot of different options in the new software, I hope Apple doesn't come out with a new version that requires another purchase. Thanks for taking the time to listen to this experiment.

Lyrics
The gains will flow through veins of those
who’s gains are for the selected few.
The poor will grow and take the place
from a middle class who’s confused.

It weighs on a ballance
that favors an attitude
but don’t think it counts for you.

The trip unfolds a destination
a place you don’t want to go.
the steps are slow and steep to travel
beyond grim statistic to behold.

If pain’s what you’re after
confused from the laughter
just take your precious time.

Then read the next chapter
where you’ll find it’s not what your after
closing your mind from all of the rules.

Then you came back with the blues
still you have to pay for all those dues
even when you worked it all out.

Take a look at your grave
where you thought they had it covered
but don’t think they’ll bury it for you…

Sounds
like R. Trower in the 21st century. You got that rotary singing!

Moving forward
My finger has hovered over the Logic buy button a couple of times, but I have hesitated to push it simply because I haven't been up for another learning curve when it comes to music production (even though I know I should take the step). So kudos to you for bravely moving forward.

Already you are bringing forth some great sounds!

It's not too terribly different to use than Logic 9. A little practice and you're able to remember where everything is. A little mixture of GB/Logic gooey and some really cool updated features. Thanks for the encouragement.

Outstanding!
Fine fret work. Individual tone! Tenacious pursuit of production pays off with great sound. Your work is inspirational.
Thanks for sharing with us. You keep the bar high. Bravo!
Naked ideas make lyrics stark, tell a story! Put your ideas into things. A couple characters and some action verbs draw the listener into a work, lay the mainstream truth between the lines then transcended the delusion, (that's post Dylan). Depressed people plod to the grave, people who live lives dance there... "beyond grim statistic to behold" would be a fine line in the mouth of character as a parody device, but as a naked bromide, naw. "A dog on his back legs preaching" is how I would formulate the nit here using the put the ideas into things notion. The work is strong musically and would benefit from a second go at the lyrics with the ideas nested into things.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah there's a lot of talent here I could have farmed this out to. You're right on with the tongue twisting grim statistic to behold, it was awkward to execute. The lyrics, as rough as they are, do portray somewhat of a mental instability but they veer more towards the idea of someone who's made up their mind because of peer media where the the facts steer you otherwise. But false weighs in the balance of that person's existence and he choses to close himself from reality.

Trippy opening. The Leslie works a treat with your fine guitar playing. This is really good. Liking the vibe and the subdued vocal work a lot. Agree with Sam's Trower comment and I also thought of Traffic à la Dear Mr Fantasy. Fine first outing with Logic X. Well done, John. Take care.

You're right, I was attempting a Trower style. I admire the man's ability to play and the fact that he's still doing it. I dig traffic as well, and will have to revisit them. Thanks for the listen and always special to read your feedback.

That's a great guitar sound. Though I would use it more as an occasional effect than throughout the song.

I know Steve Winwood used a leslie with his keyboard, I wonder if he had an on/off switch for his setup. I did find it a bit to much on the backup guitar, wasn't the same effect as a spinbox or a univibe pedal. Thanks for your valuable feedback.

Plenty happening here. Like Vic, I'm not wild about the guitars always getting the Lesley treatment, but it is certainly and interesting sound. I love the solo - that's where the effect comes into its own, for me. Strong lyrics.A successful experiment, John!

Thanks for the listen. I get it on the over use of the effect. I usually go with a spinbox pedal or univibe. I take it that the phaser effect on the lead was a nice break away without the Leslie. Your comments are always appreciated.

Yep, Trower.
Cool track. It makes me Sigh a little, ha ha. Logic is worth getting for the huge amount of instruments it offers. Some are really excellent.

There are a lot of cool features packed in Logic. Every time I upgrade I can usually drop a 3rd party plugin. Thanks for the listen and encouragement.

Rock with good lyrics. Don't hear much of that these days! I also love the tone you are getting with the guitar.

I'm a self taught guitar player who started playing at the age of 13. I mix my guitar progressions together, add lyrics and from that point I'll search for vocal melodies. The music I write is about life experiences and some about random subject mat... [see more]
