Description
This is a new song that I've been working on over the last few days. I love the verses but I'm not totally happy with the direction I took it for the choruses. I think this song could be a really special one with the right treatment, but I can't figure out what to do with it and I'm going crazy listening to it over and over. Anyway, I hope you enjoy what I've got so far. Any feedback appreciated. I haven't laid down the bass yet, but I have to go pick up my wife from work and I want to upload now... If only I was as good at finishing songs as I am at song descriptions.

Lyrics
I was giving up on the good life
And that’s when you walked into my world and sang your song of love
it all turned around
When I met you

Oh I get some things messed up inside my mind
And that’s when you show me that you’re never ever leaving
it all turns around
When I see you

too good to be true
And sometimes that’s why I hurt you
The better life gets, is also pretense

It’s a wicked game
To want a carrot on a stick
And that’s when you make me think that I was never dreaming
It all turns upside down
When it’s with you

Not sure it needs bass
Lovely smooth guitar work.

Excellent vocals.

Like Cees I think some more variation in the drums would be good.

Cheers

very nice guitar work
I really like your voice and this is a good song. I agree with both the above suggestions. maybe laid back congas thru the chorus?

Cool
And very cool guitar. If it's driving you daft, try to step away and return later, pretending it's someone else's song. Some bass lines to punctuate and accentuate, and some more varied drums would really help. But even as is, it's very good listening.

I like your singing here
really suits the song and the happy sad vibe created between the chill guitar and the questioning lyrics.

i've just listened again
this really is good work. i really like.
humble suggestion; maybe on the chorus after the sort of stoccato "too good to be true" you could break into a little walking bass move for the next line"and sometimes thats why I hurt you" , combined with a slightly darker melodic shift?

thanks charlie
Thanks for coming back for another listen. I hear you, I've been thinking about dropping the line "sometimes that's why I hurt you" and having something instrumental there instead. Taking it more in the jazz direction, and a bass line could be cool there. Next time I work on it I think I'll change quite a bit. Thanks for the suggestions and glad you enjoyed the song!
