Description
just discovered how to get MIDI working on my old Casio keyboard.
.I heard this fantastic blues inflected jazz piano in a bar one night. turns out it was Ray Bryant with his trio. can not recommend "Gotta travel on" from 1966 too much. just love it.
this is a my little homage. I can only play one hand at a time, but still so far short of the original.

Dark Blue
Yer inspiration is kinda a funny thing. Allow me to speak to that? The tune yer referring too is a cover by Ray Bryant of a song from 1959. The original tune was frequently covered and a minor hit record during the mid sixties. It is a slacker anthem. In a sense a cross over vehicle that people like Doris Day used to toughen their public image. This was back when charts and cross over existed.
Jazz rudiments include modulations and specific kinds of rhythms and phrasing. This is more like straight ahead jazz flavored R&B from the period of the Bryant recording. Not bad at all.
Welcome to the world of midi. Bang out the original if you can, you can learn a lot from that kinda thing...

thank you
the song I had in mind is "night stalker", I'm pretty confident that's what you're also referring to. my first sexual (if you can call it that at ~5 years old) was all about Doris Day - I'll try and find the song you refer to. thank you for the encouragement.

Blue
Love the recurring main piano theme that first starts at :09, then :35, and twice after that.

Night Blue
Not too shabby for one hand at a time. Bass sounds realistic to me. MIDI too? Nicely done.
