Princely Appearance
Well done and a pleasant surprise. Synth drums were annoying when they first came out lol, somethings don't improve with age... The vocals shine on this recording.

Have
to agree. But in the first version they were added on purpose to keep with the 80s thing.

Version 3!
I'm willing to bet David will want a go at this one and then there will be five different versions. Six if we let Tom at it. As I indicated elsewhere, this sounds like a crazy party in your head. If the gigs were anything like this they were something to see.

I
think it's gone its route. I'm already working on a new song. I think my mix is quite lively and I'm happy with it as is.

Mr tarver
I liked the more sparse instrumentation in the first version, but I must say I also like this version. Both versions have something unique..
Groovy! Well played and the vocals really shine here.

There's -so- much going on now ...
... that to my ears it's beginning to sound a little crowded.   Lots of interesting things all taking place at about the same volume and in the mid-range, with some BV’s louder than the lead.   But it definitely has the “electric funk” groove down solid.

I'm with Mike
It's good, but rather busy. I like the introduction of the synth noises, backwards piano and stabbing keys. And I like the way it goes bonkers towards the end. So maybe less stuff earlier on, and a more gradual introduction of all the elements. Nevertheless, my brother thinks this is like Prince meets David Byrne. High praise!

Yeah
I did this pretty quickly after receiving Graham's files and didn't do a much needed "since I have these new files, then some of the old ones need to go" decision. Having most all them is indeed too crowded. I really appreciate the observation. I pay attention to what people notice. Thanks guys.

Yes.
I'm ruthless with my own bits (even the ones I've struggled with) and try to simplify in service of the tune. I'm sure I don't always succeed, but my intentions are good. Please don't let me be misunderstood.

Mr. Tarver Revisited/Gra3ham
There is a bit too much going on but I think with some more mixing you could weave some of these added sounds in and out and push them back. the dominant feature should be your vocals. However this is a very funky tune... your vocals is what makes it. Like prince singing with the Beatles ....

Prince with Beatles.
I like this. It also makes sense. I'm a fan of both. Pretty sure Sam is too.

Also
makes sense since Prince was a Beatles fan. All in a circle.

My friend Mark
and I spent a lot of time and money collecting Parliament and Funkadelic albums when we were at college. Then Prince happened.

Ready for Tarver #3 ...
Y’know, I think that the idea of “Mister Tarver” is frankly so original that I am certainly looking for the next installment ...!

Thanks Mike, but I always keep moving. It's like, "Okay, that's done, so now what can I do next?" I've got a new tune in the works, but it ain't pretty. hah

I like Graham's "party in your head" comment :-) You've done a fine job bringing together a complex arrangement, Sam. Sounds great. Well done, guys.
