before I cross myself for winter
keep this close fair weather friend
puka shells surround our chalet
beating back the tides again

I see a face across a billboard
for a tourist trap
I pay attention when I shoudn't
and watch the heads grow back

don't act surpised
your skin is clean
you're ugly now
alive in sea foam green

maybe all those urchins now
aren't so hard to grab
maybe all those fortunes bow
ask you what you had

something exotic I can show you
just to shake things up
get you ready for the relay
make my puppies hush

prize for prize
shine for me
calm you down
coral's sorry plea

maybe all the urchins now
aren't so hard to grab
maybe all the fortunes bow
and ask you what you had

i like the dissonant guitar flourishes in this song. Still hear some of those sliding notes pinging against the chords. The vocals work nicely in the mix. Thanks for sharing.

Fair Weather Friend
The pitch challenge in the guitar is perfect. The surf sounds make the tune for me, especially about the one minute point when the background vocals kick in, I was caught up in the production. Great job!
Great lyrics all the way through. Thank you for posting your songs here.
