Description
Some months back I began experimenting with DGDGGD tuning on my acoustic guitars. The song NOT A SPARROW FALLS was the initial fruit.

Not long after posting that tune, I came up with another arrangement in said tuning, but didn't really know what I wanted to do with it. So it sat in limbo these several months.

Recently I started fooling with it again, and I finally hit on a direction for the piece.

So here it is... Yet another rocking lament for the human condition...

Be well all!

Lyrics
CHILDREN OF EVE

I
The Garden in our rear-view mirror, Vesuvius looming up in the distance.
We're speeding toward the Pompeii of our own blind resistance.

The fig leaves of delusion for our makeshift covering,
we dance and jest while overhead the vultures are seen hovering...

CHORUS:
Spawn of Adam, children of Eve;
lonely exiles... rebel seed!
Our past forgotten, our future unclear;
we sip the hemlock of illusion and fear.

Will we ever find our way back home?

II
Staring down the barrel of our own impending death;
seems that this game of life's much like Russian Roulette!

Seated at the tables of chance, it's there we place our bets.
No lucky seven roll, snake-eyes is all we ever get...

CHORUS:
Spawn of Adam, children of Eve;
lonely exiles... rebel seed!
Our past forgotten, our future unclear;
we sip the hemlock of illusion and fear.

Will we ever find our way back home?

Bridge:
Why do we go on listening,
to this world's infernal hissing?

We need a wise and powerful Hand,
to lead us out of this dark land!
Oh Lord...

III
Clinging to this lying bill-of-goods that we've been sold;
we're all like blind beggars sitting on a bench of gold.

Sometimes I sit and wonder just how we can go on,
but they say it's always darkest right before the dawn...

CHORUS:
Spawn of Adam, children of Eve;
lonely exiles... rebel seed!
Our past forgotten, our future unclear;
we sip the hemlock of illusion and fear.

Will we ever find our way back home?

Come Together, Right Now
Interesting mix of Classical and Biblical references to drive home the point.

The experimental tuning has produced a solid soundtrack.

Don't you love that moment when you match a lyrical concept with a powerful soundtrack and it all comes together.

An attentive listener!
Thanks for the nice comment Warren. And yes, when soundtrack and concept mesh it's a wonderful feeling!

Mix master
Compare this mix with those from several years ago. Yer using yer home studio as an instrument and the production supports the vision of the material.
Has to be satisfying for you, we can hear the improvement in production on every outing. Bravo.

Thank you Daug...
If I'm sounding better these days it's because of my critics... you included of course. Many thanks for all the help, and the props.

Daug said it but...
not all that need be said.

Great song. Lyrics are engrossingly deep, yet accessible to the listener. Your vocal rises to the quality of the lyrics, i.e. excellent singing. And the instrumentals are as perfect as I could hope for, if this were my song. You're soaring in your song-making. Kudos...

Hey Jack...
I appreciate the props bro. Although I'm a tad uncertain about my singing in that first verse... Sigh... My house is rather crowded right now and it's hard to get more than a short window during which I can lay down vocals...

Glad you enjoyed this one.

Be well my friend!

fantastic production
you really have nailed the mix here. Good work.
I'm reminded a bit of Jethro Tull on this.

Ha ha...
I felt the Tull connection too, right from the start. I tried to put lots of midi flute in but couldn't make it work, so I settled for the organ, which seems to have worked out just fine after all.

Thanks for the props on the mix.

this piece has a progrock vibe.
Your vocals suddenly reminded me of Peter Hamill of Van der Graafgenerator :-)

Not enough cowbell at MJ!
A little slow for prog but I know what you mean KC. I've never heard Peter Hamill but I'll take it as a compliment.

A very cool tune
Well, thanks to Puffin, i can listen on my iOS device!!
Yay!
Ok.
So, i hope you take this the right way; this has a super cool Spinal Tap vibe, and i mean that as a huge spinal tap fan. Not that what you’re writing is satire like theirs, but the instrumentation, and vocals really gave me chills, and made me want to listen to some TAP!
Thanks for sharing your music!!

I like the TAP as well Allen
but the main influence here is---as Charlie noted---good ol' Jethro Tull.

Chills, eh?

A corker
You've been listening to those Groundhogs albums, but this has your hallmark. Another 70's band that this recalls is Atomic Rooster - it's the organ. Also - no DL? I still listen to the Wyndsok song, and would love to have this in my iTunes box.

I was also an AR fan back in the day...
especially of their second and third albums, so the influence is probably lurking about in my subconscious looking for an opportunity to escape.

My "hallmark." ---I like that!
