Description
When you live in a tourist area, the seasons aren't just marked by the weather - there's also a change in the feel of the place, with a decrease in crowds, there's an increase in the awareness of community. This is just a reflection of the change, as the villages nearby close down for the winter.
To me, this feels like an "early jiguma" song - simple, but hopefully an interesting listen.
I'm playing everything here except drums and percussion, covered by Darcy and Quincy respectively.

Lyrics
Closing Down
© 2019 Neil Porter

The visitors are leaving town
Their time is up, we’re closing down
We watch them going south on the highway
The town is quiet, the sea’s still blue
And now I get to talk to you
There’s quite a lot of things we need to say

Chorus:
Closing down
Put all your things away
And just enjoy the day
Closing down
And just enjoy the quiet

SOLO

Chorus:

The city folks have been and gone
The winter swell is coming on
Lining up as far as eyes can see
Saltwater, Bittangabee
They mean a lot to you and me
There’s quite a lot of things that we can be

Chorus:

Home and a time...
Dig the ambience! The production sounds like what used to be termed Americana before REM kinda blew that bag up. Great job all around!
If ya want a knit, put the non tik tac guitars more out front. Ah, kudos on the B-3 part, the minimalist approach matched the vibe of the song.

Non tik-tac guitars
I mixed the "non tik tac"s forward and you're right - a more interesting result.
Thanks,

Not Just the Town
The chorus sounds like it could be an ode to growing old graciously as well as a literal description of the town. Thought the mix was just right and your vocal should have been the most upfront.

closing down
tourists are becoming a plague in the Netherlands. Especially with the name we have for being a free country considering drugs. Many tourist misbehave, so a lot of people are glad when the tourists have gone home.
A fine song, Neil, love that guitarsolo and the subtle B3

Lovely song
Beautifully played and sung.

Where I live in Brighton we don't really have an off-season but I understand the feeling.

Cheers

Thanks, Neil...
Your song is well received here. The sentiment of your lyrics is matched with the intoxicating feel of your instrumentation, to perfection I could say, but who am I? This is up there, one of my very favorites by you. Thanks again for this "winding down and returning to what matters" song.

I really love that chorus...
...and that nice pause before the solo...

I know that end-of-season vibe a little, and I think you captured it nicely in both the lyric and the musical vibe...

The mix sounded good over the tiny MacBook Pro speakers, but really revealed lots of fullness and space once I put on headphones.

I think your voice on this one comes across really nicely. I think you did a great job singing it, Neil...

Wonderful production... smooth and dreamy... love the chorus. Guitar break is simple and melodic and the organ is a great touch. The whole package is very Pro.

I'm very late here. This is very rich in every way. the delay gtr has that Police element that works very well here. vocals sound great plus the gtr solo is very tasty!

How the heck
did I miss this one?

Cool tune. Fine lyric writing.

Your winsome Vic Holman-esque vocal delivery really worked for me.

As per usual, the mix was/is immaculate...
