Description
A new song..
I'm a kid of the space age...
I have always been fascinated by space and spaceflight.
I remember watching the moonlanding with my dad
50 years ago, time flies...
All instruments by me

Lyrics
It was 50 years ago
The summer of 1969
Riots, Woodstock and Vietnam
Those were turbulent times

It was 50 years ago
The summer of 1969
Apollo's flight to the moon
Neil left the Earth behind

It was 50 years ago
The summer of 1969
One small step for a man
A giant leap for mankind

Refr: 1969 – A year of triumph, a year of war
1969 – The world shaken to its core

It was 50 years ago
The summer of 1969
A year of turmoil and change
A time to redefine

It was 50 years ago
The summer of 1969
Turn on, tune in, drop out
A time to change our mind

Nostalgia some more...
Dig the Dead Ahead feel on this record, Bravo! You covered Phil Lesh's '69 tone and technique, very convincingly too! Impressive.
With yer lyric I have to suggest homework lol.
Find a technical drawing for the lunar landers environmental equipment, like A/C or batteries, we want to see the engineering utilized, not a picture of a box marked "AC".
Explain how Nixon spoke with the boys via a landline in real time on TV... better, do the broadband calculations for the power required of the analog transmitter necessary to accomplish communications from the moon to Houston...
One more? Ask yourself why NASA has chosen never to broadcast live continuous video of the earth from the moon with a third object in the heavens clearly visible.

Yes, I watched it on TV. It was one of those events where you remember where you were and who you were with. I really like your choice of chords and the guitar refrain.

Lovely laid back feel to this track. I was 8 and remember being woken early by my parents to watch it on the TV. Grainy images as I remember but such an incredible achievement. My friend says the human race peaked that year!

Terrific song
I like the song very much, and yeah, I was a kid there too.   The only sadness for me is, "I wish that we had actually done it." Yes, it might have seemed an expedient thing to do at the time, for a nation that was in some ways still mourning a young dead President, but it established an illusion that the obstacles posed by outer space were easy, and an official truth that they had already solved with the carefree bravado of an outer-space golfer.

However, this has now been a show-stopper to manned space exploration ever since. Only if can we confess that we haven't done it yet can we truly confront the enormous problems and try our best to solve them. (Which we may never actually do. There's an un-shielded thermonuclear fusion reactor only 96 million miles away from here.)

Great feel Cees! This is one of your best for sure - if I heard this on the radio (remember those?) I'd stop what I was doing to listen and try to catch who the band was.
I love the production - all the instruments and vocals have a certain roundness about them. Shiny and smooth. Your vocal reminds me of someone, but I can't quite place who.
Very cool.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil
