Description
Check out the score with the video here: Yosemite Voices v3 (final).

This was submitted for a Metapop Scoring Competition (still in judging). I just wanted to share it here. The video was provided with no sound. Happily, it's a place I've been many times and I happen to have a bunch of field recordings I made there. I blended them with an orchestral piece I created specifically timed to the video.

The orchestral sounds were created with The Orchestra Complete by Sonuscore, a new library for me. The vocals were from a library that was required for the competition, except for the Boys Choir, which was from Omnisphere. This was one of the first times I started really figuring out how to use the mod wheel to create expression for the instruments, and give them a more musical phrasing. There is always more to learn!

Note that the attached music does not include the field recording. To get the full effect, watch the video at: Yosemite Voices v3 (final)

Beautiful!
Mix sounds flawless and a beautiful piece that captures the beauty and wonder of Yosemite. I also watched the video and the field recordings add to the experience. What a great reason to visit macjams! Glad the alerts still work:) All the best, Graham!

The video version
is definitely better because you get some sense of the space with the visuals and the added field recordings.

824 Entries
There are definitely some very good entries. I haven't listened to them all since there are 824! I didn't listen to any of them before doing my own because I thought it might make it more difficult to do something original.

Damn, that's slick
how the music changes with the visuals, without really interrupting the flow of the composition. Really good stuff with all the sounds, but I know you do that very well.

Thanks!
I know it's a little weird to have one chord per section, but since it's so short I figured I could get away with it. I had actually thought of using some renaissance instrumentation in there (sort of an homage to their renaissance Christmas celebration they do in Yosemite) but I pretty much ran out of time. Glad you liked it.

Designed for awe...
This sounds exceptionally spacious and it swells nicely with the video. Very spacious indeed over headphones. I love the dynamics and the blend of the music with the visuals and the field recording, especially the waterfall. I think you choice good sounds for the music.

Classically trained composer and orchestrator. Been doing sound design and synthesis for a long time. Enjoying the incredible power of computers and samples, but it's great just to sit down with a guitar or analog synth and just play too. Graham ... [see more]
