I've tried to take on board Daug and Dicks comments. Hopefully this is a more balanced mix. Thank everyone for the feedback.
still about walking around london seeing many tourists who seem not to be having a particularly stimulating time.

A Balanced House
This version is a better listen. I now understand the room where the music was made. Each instrument has a home in that space. Really important to have a sane room...

Did you sculpt the eq of the instruments so everyone has their own bit of the frequency spectrum yet? No?

I suggest the woodwind voice needs to be replaced with a mellotron, we can't hear any inflection/air in the woodwind part as it is performed anyway... the tron will give us legato sustain and air! We need hooks. We got no hooks besides guitar arps.

Create a tron lick that can be safely repeated up to three times per cycle. So the new tron lick will help open the piece. If you want ya can develop the tron line at the end of the piece as the woodwind appears in the original version. The Moody Blues method here, listen to Pinder's work on "Days of Future Past" for inspiration. Your singing voice will benefit from this association... Listen carefully to the vocal techniques on the Moody's record and copy them.

It takes like 10,000 hours to learn how to sing like the Moodys on that record. Do not waste your time reinventing the wheel. Borrow and then innovate!

thank you for sitting thru it again!
ok I've been listening to the Moody's and get what you're talking about. I haven't heard them for ages. they were great. its seems they were bigger in the US than in the old country. who would have thought it?
I'll follow your suggestions and repost.

You have a distinctive style
I often get criticised for vocals that are too upfront so maybe that's why I find the vocals are mixed low.

Then again it feels like they are part of an ambient soundscape rather than a leader and that seems to work.

A really interesting sound with a lot going on.

What an original post Charlie. Lots going on, and everything so clear. I like the many melodic aspects to this - it sounds quite complex, but accessible at the same time.
A really solid mix - so clean and precise.
Great post!
